The Third Man (PG) | Home Ents Review

Available to see on Blu-Ray or DVD, The Third Man is set in Vienna. Orson Welles (in the smaller but dominating role) stars as Harry Lime, who fakes his own death. Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten), a minor novelist, investigates. There are a number of intrigues in this dark, secret society that has formed around Lime in the city. With a screenplay by Graham Greene, the 1949 film stands up well as a unique classic film with a score by zither player, Anton Karas which is still popular today. The finale is amazing.

The Dark Knight Rises (12A) | Close-Up Film Review

It was four years ago that we saw The Dark Knight save Gotham City from the Joker and Two-Face in Nolan’s second Batman film but on screen, when The Dark Knight Rises, eight years have passed. At the end of the previous film, Batman vanished from public view, blamed for the death of the supposedly heroic DA Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart, seen here briefly in flashback), whom we know had become the villainous Two-Face.

Under Milk Wood (15) | Home Ents Review

There’s a certain level of charm, rarely seen on the big screen today, which wholly encapsulates Under Milk Wood – the latest adaptation of Dylan Thomas’ infamous 1954 radio play. Adaptations can be something of a risk, more often than not the predecessor is looked on more favourably that its successor. And yet, following on from Andrew Sinclair’s 1972 effort, Kevin Allen brings the fun, warmth and Charlotte Church to his version.
