Review by Matthew Morlai Kamara

After a shipwreck, Roz (Lupita Nyong’o), a highly intelligent robot, washes ashore on a remote island, surrounded by animals that first view her as an intruder. However, her care for an orphaned baby goose wins their trust and forces Roz to evolve emotionally and intellectually in unexpected ways.

The story of this animated film is a touching reflection on survival and the power of adaptation, blending environmental themes with sci-fi in a way that feels fresh and profound. The film masterfully explores Roz’s transformation from a machine designed for efficiency to a protector who deeply understands the interconnectedness of all life.

The stunning visuals of the island’s wildlife, coupled with a delicate, moving score, elevate the emotional resonance of the film. The Wild Robot strikes a nearly perfect balance between heart and innovation, tugging at the soul while sparking curiosity about what it means to be “alive.” For a film so centred on technology, it pulses with genuine humanity.
