Since 2003, Park Circus has been passionate about the big screen experience.
In trying times, they have stood firmly alongside friends from across the industry to give exhibitor, studio and festival partners a voice, to share uplifting moments from classic films, and showcasing favourite films of high-profile industry figures such as David Oyelowo, Vicky Krieps and Tom Skerritt – all to inspire audiences whilst cinemas have been closed.
But now, after a turbulent few weeks, Park Circus is delighted to announce that, in order to support the reopening of cinemas when it is safe to do so, they will be presenting cinema programmers with a specially curated, highly flexible selection of some of the very best-loved classic films from across the decades.
Take a couple of quintessential family favourites (The Sound of Music and Paddington), add in a few stone-cold classics (Do The Right Thing, Taxi Driver and Roman Holiday) and top with a sprinkle of sci-fi (Blade Runner: The Final Cut, Gravity, Back to the Future and Terminator 2: Judgement Day) and one dystopian action adventure (Mad Max: Fury Road).
Next, add in a little romance (When Harry Met Sally, Ghost and A Matter of Life and Death), a mix of horror classics old and new (Evil Dead and Get Out), a dose of both female empowerment (A League of their Own) and classic British drama (Billy Elliot and Trainspotting).
All these films will be available in DCP and easily bookable on terms to support exhibition, as well as being supported by artwork, trailers and promotional materials.
In addition, Park Circus is also offering a deeper dive into cinema history with a wider list of two hundred and fifty selected classic films – a genuinely broad choice of programming options for cinemas to license quickly and easily.
From Buster Keaton’s silent comedies and Universal Studios’ monster madness to surreal stories and counter-culture classics from the summer of ’69 and beyond.
Mark Hirzberger-Taylor, CEO of Park Circus said: “We are so very honoured to play our part – standing proudly alongside our studio partners – in helping our exhibitor colleagues to rebuild audience trust in the magic of cinema, just as soon as it is safe to do so. Park Circus is also committed to working alongside other industry partners to bring a wider range of stories from film history to audiences as they return to cinemas, helping us all to understand how that history can help us to build a more inclusive future.”
