Curzon unveils a new integrated website

Curzon today unveiled a new integrated website (curzon.com) for their cinemas and streaming platform Curzon Home Cinema, and an upgraded suite of Curzon Home Cinema apps for Apple, Google Play and Amazon Fire.

With the improvements, customers will now find Curzon’s online and offline offerings at one destination with seamless integration of membership and account details. There has also been a complete overhaul of the design and feel of the website, led by branding agency North who oversee branding across Curzon’s operations.

Curzon’s unique guest experience has been built by Vista Digital, Curzon’s digital technology partner, utilising Vista’s cloud-based Digital Platform technology. These improvements mean customers will now find Curzon’s online and offline offerings at one destination with seamless integration of membership and account details

Video playback on the platform is now powered by end-to-end online video providers Shift72 and includes adaptive bit-rate streaming, improving the streaming capabilities of the service and providing unbeatable DRM & security. The ability to download films to watch offline has been added, and the new apps allow customers to make in-app purchases for the first time. Alongside this comes improved facilities for access services, including audio description and closed captioning. All adding to a smoother user experience.

Customer service, including a new ‘chat bot’ function, is provided by Europa and means the service now has 24hr troubleshooting and support.

Curzon Home Cinema allows customers to stream the latest films online. Including brand new films, timeless masterpieces & curated collections. Anytime, anywhere. No subscription needed. Vista Cinema technology integrates VOD purchases for films directly into the cinema exhibitor website flow, a world first.

With the reopening of cinemas on Monday 17th May, Curzon will continue to release films via their distribution arm in cinemas and on Curzon Home Cinema simultaneously. Forthcoming titles include the critically acclaimed Apples, Sundance favourite The Killing of Two Lovers and Cannes selections Gagarine and Sweat

The improvements to the website and Curzon Home Cinema are the first stage in a two-part process to transform the Curzon offering. Monday 17th May will see the launch of a revolutionary Curzon membership offering that is fully flexible across cinemas and streaming.

Curzon CEO Philip Knatchbull said;

‘Our new website curzon.com delivers on my long-held ambition to unify cinemas with watching films at home, bringing the very best films to the widest audience possible, when and where customers want. Cinema is for all, and with Curzon Home Cinema, everyone has access to their own personal, virtual cinema to enjoy the latest film releases at their leisure. Along with the launch of this new website comes a renewed commitment to bringing the most exciting films from around the world to homes, available for customers to watch the same day that they arrive in Curzon cinemas.’

Shannon Lea from North said;

‘Since beginning work on Curzon’s digital platforms, our aim has always been to align the online experience, as closely as possible, with that of stepping into one of their cinemas. In applying the visual identity work we’ve been partnering with Curzon on since 2019, the site continues to break new ground, as Curzon have always done, with a holistic ecosystem, seamless between physical and digital.’

Mischa Kay from Vista Cinema said;

‘Vista has been involved in this process from concept through design to delivery, and it’s been a pleasure working with the passionate team at Curzon, their love for the brand and genuine compassion for their team has made this a standout project for our team. Creating and delivering innovation-focused products and services that meet, and aim to exceed client needs is key at Vista, and we’re excited this Vista Digital project delivered some innovative ‘firsts’ to match Curzon’s consistent innovative approach to cinema and beyond.’
